Location: Otago
FTE (Hours): 1
Date Posted: 22/11/2017
Application Closing Date: Open
Job #: RMO5835

Description

Thinking about a change in hospital for 2017/2018.  Don’t want to be working somewhere too big or too small?  Want to have exposure to tertiary level cases?  Love to teach?  Want to work with Specialists who are also research leaders in their field of interest?  If you answer yes to any of the above, then Dunedin is the place for you to be!

We are calling for registrations of interest from those who will be post graduate year 2 and above.  Whether you have decided on your career and determined that you need more subspecialty experience to get where you are going, or, if you are still undecided but want exposure to more generalist roles, we have what you need.

With the following quarterly runs available, House Officers are asked to rank those they are interested in working in:

  • ED (3 or 6 month runs available)
  • General Medicine
  • General Surgery
  • Cardiology
  • Orthopaedics
  • Older Peoples Health
  • ENT
  • Oncology
  • Ophthalmology / Neurology
  • Gastroenterology
  • Neurosurgery
  • Haematology
  • Rehabilitation
  • Respiratory
  • Cardiothoracic Surgery
  • Urology
  • Various psychiatry runs
  • Renal
  • And of course…. Rotator roles

6 month runs are also available in the following areas:

  • O&G
  • Paediatrics

Teaching and training is important to us here in Dunedin and that is why there are a number of regular activities that House Officers can join in on. Whether it is the regular House Officer education sessions or the journal clubs, X-ray meetings or rounds from the various services; there is always something happening.

Successful candidates will have a minimum of two year post graduate medical experience.

Please note - important information for overseas graduates who are applying

On 1 November 2017 The Medical Council of New Zealand (the Council) is introducing a new method of primary source verification using the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates’ Electronic Portfolio of International Credentials (ECFMG’s EPIC) service.

Please visit the NZMC website for more details about these changes.
