Join the supportive team in the Intensive and acute inpatient mental health environment where each day will be different and challenging. The positon will be based in Ward 9B which is a 17 bed inpatient facility located on site at Wakari Hospital, Dunedin. The unit is a locked unit providing care and treatment for people with a diverse range of mental health mental health presentations.
The role will provide Nursing support and leadership primarily to both ward 9B with an expectation of being available to provide input and advice to other areas from time to time as well as afterhours support.
The clinical nurse specialist will role model specialist mental health nursing care based on substantial theoretical knowledge in a mental health setting and work with nursing staff to continually develop practice. You will also be involved in maintaining the ongoing development of ward treatment programmes within a SafeWards frame work.
The successful applicant will be Level Four (expert) (or working towards) on the Southern District Health Board Professional Development Programme. In addition to your nursing qualifications you will also have post graduate qualifications (relevant to mental health), at a minimum a diploma, but preferably a Master Degree (or working towards).
