Smokefree Coordinator –Public Health
- Fixed-term commencing February 2018 for up to 12 months
- 1 FTE (37.5 hours per week)
We are in need of a champion to support smokefree activity in Otago. You’ll provide on-going support and follow-up for those delivering at strategic and patient care levels with a focus on Secondary Health in Otago. You will also provide support to other maternity facilities and rural trust hospitals.
Focusing on supporting smokefree systems, in particular the ABC Approach to Smoking Cessation and systems to achieve the health target, ‘Better Help for Smokers to Quit’, you will ensure there are processes in place to identify people who smoke, and provide advice and support for them to quit. Additionally you will liaise with external organisations to provide support for local smokefree networks.
Working closely with the committed Otago/Southland regional smokefree team, you’ll embrace working within a local and regional team and be a part of our goal of Smokefree 2025. You’ll need to be a strong communicator, with proven leadership and networking skills. You will require excellent IT skills and ability to analyse the trends and collate reports of the delivery of ABC as part of your monthly reporting. You’ll be passionate about smokefree initiatives, be an effective problem solver, and have the drive to make things happen.
This position is based in our Dunedin office and is for 37.5 hours a week (full-time). Experience in the health sector would be an advantage.
