The Registered Nurse will work towards improving the health status of Māori and reduce health inequalities by providing a tikaķa best practice holistic nursing service.   The Registered Nurse will provide interventions which are recovery focused, safe, culturally and clinically appropriate within SDHB Maori Health Services and SDHB Mental Health, Addictions and Intellectual Disability Services.

 

We are looking for a highly motivated Registered Nurse with a passion and knowledge of Māori Health. You must have the ability to work collaboratively with the Maori Health Directorate teams here in Dunedin and Invercargill and work alongside other hospital services including SDHB Mental Health Addictions and Intellectual Disability Services, and Dunedin hospital staff to ensure cultural aspects are recognised, acknowledged and incorporated into all assessments and interventions.

 

The role encompasses the acute care of patients recently admitted as well as the continuing care and rehabilitation of Māori with complex needs.

 

Essential Criteria:

To be successful in this role you will have community and / or recent acute inpatient experience, proven leadership and the ability to meet the demands of a busy workload to a high standard. It is important to have an understanding of Te Reo Māori and tikanga best practice.

You will also hold a strong sense of ‘self’, a positive ‘can do’ attitude and a commitment to working cohesively in a multidisciplinary team environment.

You should be a New Zealand Registered Nurse with a minimum of 3 years’ experience, with current APC and hold a full NZ drivers licence.
