Medical Typists – Women’s and Children’s Outpatients
- Children’s Outpatients – 1 FTE, 40 hours per week
- Women’s Outpatients - 0.5 FTE 20 hours per week
Are you someone who thrives in a fast paced work environment and feels rewarded to know you’re contributing to the health and wellbeing of our patients and community?
The Southern DHB currently has vacancies for two Medical Typists, one part time (20 hours per week), and one full-time (40 hours per week). Both positions are based at Dunedin hospital, and are integral to the close-knit outpatient clinical teams that they support.
These roles require candidates with a typing speed of at least 70 words per minute, as well as proven dictaphone typing skills. Ideally you’ll have medical typing experience or be an excellent typist with an interest in the health field. One of the key indicators of the role is an expected average turn-around time of 48 hours, so being comfortable working to deadlines is a must.
As you’ll be dealing with patient information it is essential that you have an eye for detail and are able to demonstrate accuracy in your work. The majority of your work will be undertaken by dictaphone, so being confident around technology is pre-requisite. Should you be successful in gaining an interview for either of these roles, your typing speed and accuracy will be tested. Working within a wider team it is essential that you have good communication skills and are a team player.
As we are recruiting for two roles, please indicate in your cover letter your preference for the part-time or full-time position.
Closing Date: Monday 29th January 2018
