Description

Registered Nurse – Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

Dunedin Hospital

  • Permanent, part-time to full time (32-40 hours per week)
  • Is work / life balance important to you?
  • Join our growing ICU team

An exciting opportunity exists in the Dunedin Hospital ICU to join a growing team in a redeveloping unit, with a dynamic and multi-disciplinary model of patient care.  Southern DHB has the largest geographical catchment area in NZ.  Our hospital sits in the beautiful historic city of Dunedin with its amazing coastline, spectacular mountainous hinterland and unique community spirit.

We are proud of our tertiary level ICU, which provides critical care services for trauma, paediatrics, cardio-thoracic surgery, neuro surgery, renal, and medical patients. The unit also runs a retrieval team made up of nurses and doctors who support the Otago Rescue Helicopter and fixed wing transfers.

The position offers flexible rosters of either or a mix of 12 hour shifts and 8 shift rotations. We are a family friendly unit, committed to a roster that is as flexible as possible.

To be successful in this role we are looking for:

  • A minimum of two years post registration practice including current ICU experience.
  • New Zealand Registration
  • Current eligibility to live and work in New Zealand
  • A nurse that can demonstrate the SDHB values of Kind (Manaakitanga), Open (Pono), Positive (Whaiwhakaaro) and Community (Whanaungatanga)

The ICU unit is going to double in size through several stages of redevelopment. The last stage is due to be completed in late 2018. The completely redeveloped unit will cover the whole of the fifth floor and house 18 beds, through the amalgamation of two surgical HDUs with the ICU. As the unit expands the position will bring with it ongoing opportunities for career progression and professional development.

If this exciting opportunity is of interest, we want to hear from you.

Closing Date: Sunday  25th February 2018
