Activity Assistant - Intellectual Disability Service,
Working within the Intellectual Disability Service at Wakari Hospital you will be an integral member of the team. The Activity Assistant works alongside the Occupational Therapist and other staff assisting in the planning, organising, implementation and evaluation of the therapeutic programme on the ward. Our programme provides people opportunities to engage in psycho-educational, skills based, social and leisure groups. These are designed to enhance quality of life and independence for people with intellectual disabilities, and encourage and support client participation and rehabilitation.
To be considered for this role you must have good organisational and time management skills. You will need an affinity for working with people with intellectual disabilities across their life span and have strong interpersonal and communication skills. You will also have the ability to remain calm when difficult situations arise.

Applicants with an interest in creative arts, outdoor activities or who have practical skills and the energy and enthusiasm to share their skill with others is advantageous.
A full clean, driving license is also required.
