Antimicrobial Stewardship Pharmacist – Pharmacy – Patient Services
- Full Time – Permanent position
- 1 FTE (40 Hours per week)
Southern District Health Board has an exciting opportunity for you to make your mark. We are seeking a highly motivated expert to join our team to establish a new service within (and across) Southern DHB.
Now is a great time to relocate to Southern! Here you’ll find an enviable lifestyle without any traffic headaches! There is a combination of a great location with stunning scenery, established food and wine experiences and high performing hospitals and health system to make Southern an ideal work/lifestyle destination. Restaurants, cafes, arts and cultural activities rival those on offer anywhere in the country and Southern is one of the most spectacular parts of New Zealand.
Our region serves a population of over 320,000 people, with hospitals in the 2 main centres servicing the district. Dunedin and Wakari Hospital have approximately 450 beds and Southland Hospital in Invercargill has 180 beds.
We have a prestigious full time, permanent position available as an Antimicrobial Stewardship Pharmacist. This would suit an experienced clinical pharmacist with superior knowledge and passion for the field of Antimicrobial Stewardship. Working in partnership with infectious disease and microbiology clinicians you will provide lead support for the implementation of an antibiotic stewardship programme across Southern DHB.
You would be based in either Invercargill or Dunedin (depending upon the successful candidates preference) but there is an expectation that this position covers the District so travel around the Southern DHB region would be required.
Once the Antimicrobial Stewardship programme is established, there is the opportunity for the successful candidate to split the role to maintain the antimicrobial stewardship programme and grow additional staff in the field of Antimicrobial Stewardship whilst undertaking a clinical role, or for the successful candidate to maintain a full antimicrobial stewardship role.
You must be registered as a Pharmacist with the Pharmacy Council of New Zealand and you will have the ability to work and contribute as part of a team, with excellent time management skills, be a great communicator in verbal and in written language adapting to the need to the audience, and very high standard of ethical and professional practice. This role lends itself to being able to prescribe so a Pharmacist Prescriber qualification would be desirable. A mature approach is essential as is the ability to adapt to a changing health environment.
Closing Date: Monday, 2nd April 2018
