Dunedin Hospital’s General Surgery Ward is now accepting applications from Registered Nurses looking to join a hardworking and supportive team on a permanent basis. We have multiple positions available, so whether you are interested in part-time hour or willing to work up to full-time, we can accommodate preference for hours for the right people.
Ward 4A is a 24 bed General Surgery ward, with an additional six bed High Dependency Unit attached. Ward 4A specializes in upper & lower GI and colorectal Surgery. The ward provides for both elective and acute surgical admissions.
You will bring excellent assessment skills and a passion and focus for working with families/whanau to provide a high standard of care. You will be an exceptional team player who has strong communication skills and the ability to be flexible with work shifts. Additionally, you will naturally embody the Southern DHB values of Kind (Manaakitanga), Open (Pono), Positive (Whaiwhakaaro) and Community (Whanaungatanga) through your interactions with patients and colleagues. You will also have a minimum of 1 year recent experience working on a surgical ward. Experience working in an HDU is desirable.
The successful applicants will be provided with a first-rate orientation and an ongoing in-service education programme, along with opportunities for undertaking post graduate education. The work is varied and interesting and you will have many opportunities to develop professionally. The hours of work are rostered and rotating shifts, Monday to Sunday.
You will need to be registered in accordance with the Health Practitioner Competency Act 2003 as a New Zealand Registered Nurse and hold a current Practising Certificate.
