The Southern DHB now has an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse to join our Gore based Community Mental Health team working with patients with serious mental illness in a community setting.
Gore –located between two main cities, Invercargill and Dunedin- boasts a central point to some of Southlands best natural landscapes while offering a fantastic lifestyle with affordable living. It’s what we like to call ‘rural city living’.
As a key member to this mature and experienced team you will be responsible for managing up to 30 cases, assessing, maintaining and managing clinical risk and crisis work. The rural community will bring its own challenges and ability to growth dealing with a largely adult clientele. Further, we are seeking applicants who have a willingness to train as a DAO and become a part of our southern rivers crisis team, seeing you respond to mental health crisis throughout the district on an on call basis roster.
You will have previously demonstrated a commitment to best practice standards and your model of practice will be inclusive of the seven Real Skills of Let’s get real (www.tepou.co.nz). You will also hold a strong sense of ‘self’, a positive ‘can do’ attitude and a commitment to working cohesively in a large and dynamic multidisciplinary team.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Gore Community Mental Health Team whilst gaining experience and upskilling in a community setting. To be successful in this role you will have community and / or recent acute inpatient experience and the ability to meet the demands of a busy workload to a high standard.
To be eligible to apply you must be registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and have a current and valid APC and clean driver’s license.
