We have available, a permanent part-time role based at Southland Hospital, for a Registered Nurse working within our Youth Forensic service. You will provide an effective, efficient service for youth who are engaged in offending behaviours within the juvenile justice system and who are also experiencing emotional and/or mental health disorders.
To be successful in this role you will:
- Advocate for forensic youth, focusing on their optimum care and resilience
- Undertake a comprehensive nursing assessment and provide treatment advice alongside consultation with the multidisciplinary youth forensic team
- Provide referral of the youth for any potentially unmet need identified
- Support the Youth court processes to ensure effective liaison and developed professional relationships
There is a degree of working autonomously with this role, but you must also to be able to interact and work alongside the Youth Forensic Speciality Team based in Dunedin as a support along with the Child, Adolescent and Family Service Team based on the Southland site (where this role sits). Ideally experienced within a mental health setting, you’ll be New Zealand Registered and hold a current annual practising certificate with mental health within your current scope of practise. A current full drivers’ licence is also a requirement.
