Keen to further develop your surgical skills? Have a keen interest in Cardiothoracic Surgery? Want to experience more of this field than a 3 or 4 month rotation? Want to experience life in New Zealand’s adventure backyard?
Dunedin Hospital is seeking applications from Registrars interested in pursuing a career in Cardiothoracic Surgery. Ideally applicants will already have Registrar experience in this specialty, however this is not essential. You can complete your Part 1 studies in a supportive environment with an opportunity to complete a required rotation in our intensive care unit.As one of the three dedicated Cardiothoracic Surgery Registrars in a team of four it is expected the successful candidate will become an integral member of the service. The small size of the team guarantees more one-on-one time with consultants and more time spent assisting in theatre.
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 2 years post graduate medical experience and preferably some surgical experience at Registrar level. This would be an ideal position for somebody returning from maternity leave or participating in research.
Please note - important information for overseas graduates who are applying:
On 1 November 2017 The Medical Council of New Zealand (the Council) introduced a new method of primary source verification using the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates’ Electronic Portfolio of International Credentials (ECFMG’s EPIC) service.
Please visit the NZMC website for more details about these changes.
