Consultant Ophthalmologist
Take a break from the norm, if need a break of the hum-drum, and want to get out and about after work then you may be interested in our fixed term opportunity for a Consultant Ophthalmologist for up to a year’s fixed term position in Dunedin to start in the new year.
This role is primarily based in Dunedin but some travel across the Southern District is expected. In this role you will participate in routine ophthalmology clinics, theatre and some outreach clinics and the on call roster.
Ideally we would like an Ophthalmologist with experience and an interest in Paediatric Ophthalmology to join our team.
Dunedin Hospital is a 350 bed tertiary hospital with close links to the University of Otago, one of New Zealand’s leading research Institutes. Here you’ll need to be enthusiastic about teaching and passing your knowledge to junior members of staff, as Southern DHB is affiliated with the Otago Medical School, we provide training to Registrars from the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists.
Dunedin itself is a vibrant University city, with a big town feel and is well-known for its Southern Hospitality, providing you with a great place to live and work. You must have completed your specialist Ophthalmology training and be eligible or already hold vocational registration with the New Zealand Medical Council.
