Senior Medical Physicist - Southern Blood & Cancer Service (SBCS)

  • Permanent 1.0 FTE role
  • Based at Dunedin Hospital

Medical Physicists play a vital role in the clinical application of radiation to treat cancer. As part of a multidisciplinary team you will ensure that treatments are safe and effective. We are seeking an experienced medical physicist to work in the Radiation Oncology Service to join a team of six medical physicists and two technicians. The candidate must have a proven ability to lead development of clinical techniques and innovations. The applicant must possess ACPSEM certification/accreditation in radiation oncology medical physics, or an international equivalent. The senior medical physicist position is a full- time six-year fixed term appointment.

 

The Southern Blood & Cancer Service (SBCS) provides a Radiation Oncology Service for a population of 328,000 in the Otago and Southland regions of New Zealand.

 

The service has three Linear Accelerators including an Elekta HD Versa, Varian TrueBeam and Clinac iX, Monaco treatment planning system and Mosaiq oncology patient management system, Siemens CT scanner, & an Ortho-Voltage unit. SBCS delivers Body Stereotactic treatment for lung, spine and liver in addition to providing the national cranial stereotactic service. The physicist will be expected to engage in all areas of medical physics including TEAP medical physicist registrar training.
