You’ll provide specialist care to inpatients and outpatients referred to our Older Peoples Health and Rehabilitation Services. Your duties will include general assessment, treatment and rehabilitation for older people using a restorative approach, across inpatient, outpatient (urban and rural), and community settings. Liaison with other hospital specialities is an important component of our successful management of complex health issues in older people. Our objective is to enable patients to achieve the highest possible level of independence and the services operate with an emphasis on:
- Promoting wellness, independence and participation
- Close liaison with community services
- Using a multi-disciplinary team approach.
As we have close links to the University of Otago’s School of Medicine, and we envisage the successful candidate to be committed to the teaching of medical students, and working with junior medical staff.
