About the DHB
Southern District Health Board is committed to valuing our patient’s time and ensuring the promotion of clinical nursing/midwifery professional standards. The Releasing Time to Care (RTC) Programme has been implemented across our hospitals over the past 3 years and we are now looking to ensure the sustainability of the programme modules and build on the work already undertaken and identified.
About the Team
RTC is focused on looking at our most common day to day processes and activities and then adopting a bottom up approach through empowering and enabling ward/unit teams to make changes they need. The programme focus is on lean principles to improve in-patient care and make a difference to the staff work day.
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, motivated Registered Nurse to join the RTC team working within the Quality Improvement and Performance Team on the Southland site.
You will work collaboratively with ward teams to:
- Improve interventions that impact both locally and in the wider organisation
- Promote clinical nursing/midwifery professional standards
- Educate and support a variety of teams in quality and patient safety initiatives
- Act as a resource person to support staff in achieving their Professional Development and Recognition Programme (PDRP) requirements
You must be passionate about the programme and be able to inspire, motivate and support staff working in the in-patient areas.
To succeed in this varied role you will need to:
- Be registered with the Nursing/Midwifery Council of New Zealand as a Registered Nurse or Midwife
- Hold a current Annual Practicing Certificate
- Have excellent interpersonal skills and be a confident presenter
- Have had experience in managing projects or quality improvement activities
- Have an understanding of relevant quality improvement cycles and strategies
