We are excited to welcome applicants who are experienced New Zealand Registered Dietitians to join the dietetic team at Dunedin Hospital, Southern District Health Board.  There are two positions available, both requiring three or more years’ post registration experience. The acute inpatient role is based at Dunedin Hospital, and the other is based at Wakari Hospital and has an outpatient/community focus.

The acute inpatient dietitian caseload is predominately adult focused and based on the surgical, cardiology and respiratory wards. Experience in prescribing Enteral and Parenteral (IV) nutrition is required for this role.

The Outpatient/Community caseload, involves working in a variety of clinical settings. This role has a varied clinical caseload. Dietetic experience is required in one or more of the following areas; stroke rehabilitation, Neurological conditions, gastroenterology and oncology.

These exciting and challenging roles offer variety and will capitalise on your passion for dietetic care across the continuum of healthcare.  You will have a focus on improving health literacy and education, as well as your ability to enthuse your patients and motivate real behaviour change.  You will work autonomously, and as part of a multi-disciplinary team, working closely with other health care providers, across a range of settings

You will have clear and open communication skills that allow you to foster positive relationships with patients, whanau and the wider MDT.  We are looking for highly motivated, enthusiastic and collaborative team players who are willing to take on new challenges and continue to raise the profile for dietetics.  Ideally you will have three or more years post registration clinical experience, including acute care, outpatient clinics, community based dietetic care and or rehabilitation focus.

  • If you are a highly organized and motivated clinical dietitian, who believes in “putting the patient at the centre” we would love to hear from you. The small Dunedin Dietetic team across sites offer supervision and ongoing professional development. Teaching and supervision of M Diet students would also depend on experience. Must have and maintain a full NZ current driver’s licence.

If you have a can do attitude and able to prioritise and manage a busy case load and bring energy and enthusiasm, we would love to hear from you. The ideal candidate will be available to start February 2019.
