Theatre Suite Assistant – Perioperative Services

Dunedin Hospital

  • Permanent, 1 FTE (40 Hours per week)
  • Join our multidisciplinary team
  • Use your experience and expertise to make a real difference to our patient’s health outcomes

Our team in the Perioperative Department seek a self-starter with a can do attitude who enjoys an action packed environment for this physically demanding role as a Theatre Suite Assistant.

In this important role you’ll help with a range of tasks including:

  • Restocking and setting up of equipment
  • Patient handling and transfers
  • Collecting specimens and blood
  • Answering phones, and more.

The Perioperative Department operates Monday to Sunday. Your contribution to the unit will ensure that operations run to schedule and are well prepared so that our surgeons and clinical staff are able to perform their magic. The Theatre Suite Assistants are on rostered shifts predominately 8 or 10 hour shifts but may include some 6 hour shifts. The hours are worked Monday to Sunday with start times between 7am and 3 pm.

As noted above this is a physically demanding role, e.g. relocating beds/manual handling of patients, and as the role title implies, you’ll spend a portion of your time in the operating theatre. The team is supportive and friendly, and the opportunity to gain great job satisfaction is huge if you enjoy working at a fast pace and under pressure.

This position would suit someone (but is not restricted to) with existing hospital experience, however we’re happy to look wider.  Being computer literate is preferred, and full training of our systems will be given.

Closing Date: Sunday 27th January 2019
