Medical Imaging Technologist
Now that you’ve got some solid experience in medical imaging under your belt, don’t you reckon it’s time you thought about your next move?
Or just graduated and looking for that first role to put all that theory into practice?
So if we said you could upskill quickly, get loads of interesting cases to work on with a lovely team, and do it in a lively and affordable little city, would that get you thinking more?
Welcome to Southland Hospital. You’ll be based in general x-ray, with a general workload including paediatrics, geriatrics, emergency, theatre, trauma, mobiles, NICU, ICU and ward work – what more could you ask for! Opportunities are available for those with skills in the modalities - CT, MRI, fluoroscopy, nuclear medicine and ultrasound. However if you don’t have skills in these areas yet, there are plenty of training opportunities available. Currently we have one DR room, but we’re hoping to be fully digital in the next two years.
So it’s the perfect opportunity to move your career along. There’s a great blend of working in a team and solo – mostly you’ll be with your friendly, supportive team, but because we run a 24/7 roster, there’ll be times when you have to work independently on out-of-hours shifts.
You’ll have a ready-made social circle in your MIT team, with a volleyball team and regular trips to all the outdoor activities in the region. Queenstown is just two hours away, so skiing and snowboarding can be yours all winter long. And in summer, you can make great use of the long days.
Southland gives you everything you’d want from a city hospital, like interesting work and a range of specialties, but there’s a small hospital feel. You’ll be on first-name terms with all the staff, including the doctors. It’s a really friendly, supportive community – and you’ll find that in the wider community, too.
There’s basically no traffic and you get free parking onsite, so long painful commutes to work will be history, plus you’ll find that housing is some of the most affordable in the country. You won’t even miss having a choice of cafés – there’s plenty of coffee in Southland, and you won’t have to spend 20 minutes queueing for it either.
Along with your qualification and postgraduate experience in medical imaging, you’ll hold a current APC and be registered with the New Zealand Medical Radiation Technologists Board (NZMRTB).
You’ll love the work, and you’ll love the lifestyle. There’s heaps on offer here – with a busy, varied role where you can upskill fast, an awesome team, and an exciting life outside work, it doesn’t get much better.
