If you are an experienced Social Worker with a passion for Children’s health this could be the opportunity for you.


You would be joining the well-established team of social workers working at Southland Hospital who are committed to delivering a service of the highest standard.  We also offer access to regular supervision, professional development and peer support.


As a social worker in this team you will have sound social work knowledge and skills, be a team player with excellent communication skills and work cohesively as part of the multidisciplinary team (MDT).  You'll be responsible for assessing the client’s needs and assisting in their journey through the hospital.  You will need a sound knowledge of family violence and child protection issues and be able to respond to challenging situations appropriately.  You will be able to think on your feet, be experienced at working under pressure and be able to multi task.  You’ll be adaptable and flexible allowing you to work effectively with your clients and within a changing health environment.


This role encompasses both inpatient and outpatient/community work and may be considered as two part time roles.


Ideally you will have experience working in Women’s and Children’s Health social work.  It is essential that you bring an understanding of the social determinants of health and the impact this has on client’s health and social needs. 


To be considered for this role applicants must have a professional Social Work qualification and have registration with the New Zealand Social Work Registration Board (NZSWRB) or be able to obtain registration with the NZSWRB within 3 months of appointment.
