This is a great opportunity to work in a unique location; i.e. remote Island 20 minutes flight time from Invercargill and 1 hour by boat.  Stewart Island has a population of approximately 387 people with a swelling population in the summer months and visitors regularly.  Accommodation and flights between Invercargill and Stewart Island are provided.


We have a range of shifts/days available from week beginning 27 February up to the end of May.  You may be interested in providing cover for only some days and we are happy to provide a list of these available days to those interested in this rare opportunity.


We wish to employ a suitably qualified Clinical Nurse Specialist(s) to provide services to cover for a fixed term.  You will be responsible for delivering 24 hour care, 7 days a week on a “shared rostered basis” to the Stewart Island Community.


The successful applicant(s) must be Prime trained and multi-skilled with specialist skills and be able to work in a variety of healthcare settings.  There is no resident GP and a strong emphasis on acute medical/surgical care.  Applicants must have advanced assessment skills, strong communication and documentation skills as well as be computer literate.  You must be able to work alone (although the nursing role is a shared position).
