Health Promotion Advisor

The Southern DHB Public Health service is now looking to appoint a Health Promotion Advisor to support health promotion work in the Dunedin office.
In this role you will be involved in a number of initiatives that have a focus on promoting and improving health and wellbeing in the community. A principal focus will be on working towards the Government goal of Smokefree 2025 and supporting healthy eating and activity.
As you will be working closely with a range of external agencies to achieve our joint objectives you will need to be a team player and have excellent relationship skills.
You will need to show us you have a strong interest and commitment to improving health outcomes for a wide variety of people. While having full support from our team we would expect the successful applicant to be able to work autonomously when required, to have an innovative approach and be familiar with settings based health promotion with a focus on reducing inequities. Your application should show us that you can handle complex relationships both internally and in the wider community.
Some travel throughout Otago and Southland will be necessary so you will need a full driver’s license. An academic qualification in Public Health is desirable as is the ability to write reports and be computer literate.
