In order to continue providing a high standard of care throughout the patient journey, we require an enthusiastic, flexible administrator with a can do attitude to help us cover high levels of activity on an as and when required basis.


 Whether you are looking to increase your hours, diversify your existing portfolio or take on a new challenge in your career, this is an opportunity to showcase and develop your exceptional administration skills while contributing to the provision of top level care at Dunedin Hospital. In this position you will provide administration support to our team and act as the first point of contact for patients, managing phone enquiries, channelling patient enquiries and booking outpatient appointments.   It is essential that you are warm, welcoming, organised and able to remain calm under pressure at all times.


To be successful in this very busy role you will be the kind of person who is flexible, adaptable, robust and can cope with conflicting priorities and interruptions. You’ll have a friendly and welcoming nature and be comfortable interacting with patients both in person and on the phone. The successful applicant with hold a key role within the Orthopaedics department maintaining good relationships with the consultants, registrars, nursing, management and administration teams.



You must be a team player with very good communication skills, who understands and appreciates the need for attention to detail.  You must also be comfortable interacting with a variety of people and attending to issues that arise – usually at the same time!   We ask that in your application you demonstrate how your previous work experience in administration and/or customer service roles has honed your ability to prioritise and juggle tasks, within demanding timeframes.

The salary for this position is based on the PSA Collective Employment agreement, South Island Administrative MECA, salary scale S4 between $43,580 - $51,259 per annum and will be based on relevant experience and qualifications.
