About the Role
We are seeking an experienced senior leader to be our next GM Health Safety & Welfare. Reporting to the Executive Director People, Culture & Technology and based at Dunedin Hospital you will lead a refreshed team of health, safety, welfare and occupational health professionals in Dunedin and Invercargill covering our broad region. Our diverse workforce is one of the largest in the Southern region so this creates complex and varied health and safety challenges.
Now is an exciting time to take the reins and own health, safety and welfare for our people. In the last couple of years we have made significant improvement in our health, safety and wellbeing performance and overall outcomes. With a new Health, Safety & Welfare Strategy and action plan being embedded there is still plenty to do to continue to drive us towards excellence. We have worked hard and are proud of maintaining our tertiary status with the ACC Partnership Programme. We have also received external commendations for our new HS&W governance structures and processes that ensure governance and management leaders are actively ‘out and about’ observing and having the appropriate conversations about patient and staff safety matters.
You are a credible and experienced health and safety leader with an absolute commitment to the welfare and wellbeing of our people and patients and whanau. You are resilient, can demonstrate sound judgment and decision making at all times, and will always lead by example and work side by side with your stakeholders and colleagues. You have experience managing through others and driving change and leading transformation. You know what great looks like. Being a role model for best practice behaviours in health and safety will ensure we continue to have a positive impact for our people and our patients.
