Health Protection Advisor
- Permanent, 1.0 FTE (37.5 hours per week)

Working as a Health Protection Officer for the Southern DHB, your work will cover a variety of health protection programme areas including communicable disease, urban planning and environmental health issues.
As a naturally inquisitive person you’ll have an investigative mind and be practiced at problem solving. The ability to assess, communicate and manage risk towards human health is an essential component of this work. It’s essential that you have good communication skills and the ability to create good working relationships, working in a wider public health team. You’ll have excellent attention to detail and the ability to follow procedures.
You’ll need to hold either a base Science or Health degree and hold / or be working towards a Graduate Diploma in Environmental Health or Postgraduate Diploma of Public Health or / hold a Degree in Health Science majoring in Public Health or Environmental Health Environment major. Preference will be given to someone who either currently holds designation or has previously been designated as a Health Protection Officer. Further qualifications in Drinking Water, Border Health or Hazardous Substances will be an advantage.
You must have a current full drivers licence.
