Registered Nurse - Hepatitis (Gastroenterology)

Dunedin Hospital

  • Permanent vacancy
  • Part time opportunity - 20 hours per week (0.5 FTE)

Our Gastroenterology Department has an exciting opportunity for a Hepatitis Registered Nurse to join our service on a permanent part time basis.

This is a role that sits within the Gastroenterology Department and is part of our plan to ensure the stability of the Hepatitis Service with leave relief and long term succession planning capacity.  It will also allow for an expansion of the nurse led role to cover surveillance of chronic liver disease, liver cirrhosis and end stage liver disease patients and to monitor for disease progression and early diagnosis of life threatening changes to their condition.  This new role will support the current Hepatitis Clinical Nurse Specialist and assist us in providing continuity of care to our patients both within the main hospital and the greater DHB.

The Gastroenterology Department is a small close knit team with 20 staff and are looking for a team player who can hit the ground running. Experience in a similar role or a strong interest in the care of Hepatitis patients would be an advantage.

Hepatitis C treatment is currently undergoing a rapid evolution.  Your areas of responsibility will be maintaining a database, assessing and monitoring patients on hepatitis C treatment, managing follow up care and attending clinics in other DHB centres and keeping up to date with the changing scope of practice.  A full NZ drivers licence is required.

The role is 20 hours per week and we can offer some flexibility with days and hours of work to suit the successful candidate. If this sounds like the opportunity you have been waiting for then apply today!

Closing Date: Sunday, 19th May 2019
