About the Team
Here in the General Adult Intensive and Acute Care Mental Health Inpatient Unit at Wakari Hospital, Dunedin, we’re looking for a Registered Nurses to join our team who have an interest in acute mental health nursing. You’ll join an expert multi-disciplinary clinical team who provide input to consumers who require comprehensive assessment and/or treatment. The majority of consumers present with serious complex mental health issues.
While prior acute mental health nursing experience is preferable, those who have a willingness to develop this experience would also be considered.

We are particularly interested in hearing from registered Nurses who are dynamic and innovative and wish to join a service that is committed to high standards of practice that supports on-going professional development. This is a challenging yet rewarding opportunity to become part of a group of staff that work as a team, in the adult inpatient mental health service. The ward has a number of very experienced clinicians available to provide support to registered nurses.
This is an excellent opportunity to develop your clinical skills on a shift by shift basis. You will be working alongside patients in a complex environment to meet their identified needs in a multi-disciplinary setting. The emphasis is on the delivery of safe client focused care in an ever changing dynamic setting.
