We are looking for a NZAS Audiologist, preferably with an interest and background in paediatrics, to join our well established Audiology team based at Southland Hospital. Your expert contribution will ensure the team has the capacity to further develop the model of family-centred care that is central to the service. New or prospective graduates of NZAS endorsed Audiology programmes with an interest in developing paediatric clinical skills will also be considered.
About the Role
You’ll be working as an autonomous practitioner at Southland Hospital, but with quick access to doctors and other medical staff in the adjacent ENT department as well as other members of the SDHB audiology team. Southland Hospital Audiology has modern facilities and a full range of equipment. You’ll follow patient care through from start to finish, so it’s an ideal environment to develop and grow your professional skills.
You will be presented Interesting and challenging work with the opportunity to forge strong relationships within Southland Hospital and the wider community. It goes without saying that an opportunity such as this lends itself to professional development opportunities galore!
Bringing excellent communication and interpersonal skills to the role will enable you to effectively interact with all users/consumers of the service, and your patient focus will ensure their correct diagnosis and care pathway. You will be able to gain an interesting range of clinical experience that includes participation in UNHSEIP and a range of other paediatric assessments as well as working closely with the ENT consultants and registrars. You will also enjoy interacting with the wider audiological community in Otago and Southland.
We seek someone with boundless enthusiasm, focus and confidence to continue to build the reputation of the service within the Southern community through effective liaising and a dedication to making things happen in the right way.
Those with a Masters of Audiology and/or experience in paediatrics are preferred, although consideration and support will be given to New Graduate Audiologists. Membership of the New Zealand Audiological Society or eligibility for membership must be demonstrated (please note that expressions of interest for the position can be submitted if this process is not yet complete).
