Health Promotion Advisor – Public Health Service



  • Permanent, 1 FTE (37.5 Hours per week)


Are you an experienced Health Promoter or perhaps a Health Professional or a Teacher, looking for a diverse new role that will see you working with institutional and community stakeholders throughout Otago, championing various public health initiatives on behalf of the Southern DHB? If your answer is yes, look no further.


The Southern DHB Public Health Service currently have an opening best suited to applicants with experience in the field of Heath Promotion and a passion for supporting resilient communities towards improving health and wellbeing.


In this role you’ll be working autonomously and need to have an innovative approach whilst being familiar with project development and implementation. You will be supported by other experienced Health Promotion Advisors in the district team as well as the Professional Leader. You’ll have expertise in managing relationships both internally and in the wider community, including stakeholders and NGOs.


It goes without saying that you will be a strategic thinker and an exceptional planner with outstanding organisational skills. You will bring excellent presentation skills along with outstanding communication skills and be computer literate.


A good knowledge of and strong links to the wider Otago communities will be an advantage. Experience in health promotion, mental health, or the education sectors are desirable.

You need to be able to travel throughout the Southern District and hold a full clean driver’s license.
