To arrange a booking for a face to face interpreter from the Southern DHB Patient Affairs team, healthcare providers requiring an appointment can make the booking by emailing, email@example.com
When the service is in the community, the interpreter will travel out to where the consult is being undertaken. Please make a booking as soon as you are aware that an interpreter will be required. Patient Affairs will endeavour to provide interpreters for urgent/same day appointments. However, advanced notice will give the greatest likelihood of having an interpreter available.
Services will need to provide the following information in their request:
- Name of your agency
- Language required
- Patient’s NHI
- Date and time of the appointment
- What the appointment involves, e.g. general check-up, counselling, cold/flu, back pain, etc.

In order for this programme to be successful, it is important to minimise any unnecessary waiting time for the interpreter and the patient. Please consider booking the patient first in the morning or after a scheduled break.
